ShareThe perfect reminder of an unforgettable live performance
Even though CD players are becoming less common these days, the CD Digipack is about much more than just the CD itself. The CD Digipak tells a story with texts and images, physically connecting you with your fans. After your performance, you can sell or distribute CD Digipacks (Also known as Digipak) personally to your fans. Share information about yourself and your music. Have your photo taken with your fans and sign on the Digipak, making it a special, limited experience for your fans. Your fans will remember this moment for a long time and will continue to support you and your music through further purchases.
1 CD = 3000 streams.
With a typical retail price of 12 euros for an album with 12 tracks, you would be left with 10.13 EUR after deducting the costs for CD pressing, including printing the Digipack and shipping. To earn 10.13 EUR through streams, you would need to accumulate 3000 streams. This would require each fan to listen to each of the 12 tracks at least 250 times. In other words, they would need to listen to your CD or a few tracks from it for a total of 150 hours = 6.25 days in a row.
As a rule, people tend to listen to a favorite song between 30-120 times over a period of several years. However, in reality, even a triple-A artist like David Guetta, with 70 million listeners, has only averaged 3.44 plays per track per listener for his 2012 album “Nothing but the Beat (Ultimate Edition)”. To stick with this example, for an album with 12 tracks, there would be just 41 plays, resulting in EUR 0.1394 after over 10 years. With the CD, you can quickly earn 70 to 250 times more than with streaming.
Sales value CD vs. streaming
sales proceeds of EUR 10.13 for the CD if the buyer only listens to all the songs once.

The best material
When it comes to choosing the material for a CD digipack, there are many options, from smooth and shiny surfaces to rough and matte surfaces.
The bestseller: Dispersion varnish gloss or matt
We offer both gloss and matte dispersion varnish. Dispersion varnish serves as a protective coating, shielding the paint from abrasion. The distinction between gloss and matt may not always be immediately apparent, as matte clearly exhibits fewer glossy effects than its glossy counterpart. Both variants deliver excellent color results on the 300g chromo board GC1. If you’re unsure, you can’t go wrong with either of these two options.
Dispersion varnish gloss
Even if it’s just a protective varnish, the glossy effect can help colors appear more vibrant and contrasting.
Dispersion varnish matte
Matte, non-reflective surface that has a more subtle and elegant effect. This style can help make the text on the CD packaging more readable because it is less reflective. However, since it is only a protective varnish, the effect is limited.
CD tray color
A transparent CD tray is see-through and allows the listener to see the inside design behind the CD.
A black CD tray can be either matt or glossy and gives your packaging a timeless and elegant look.
A white CD tray looks unusual and is a rare eye-catcher. Suitable for designs that have light and summery colors.
Internal bar printing
As a rule, the inner gutter is left unprinted due to production constraints. The Digipak is typically printed on one side of a sheet, then punched, folded, and glued together. The section between the two inside pages is punched out to allow for better closure, but the unprinted side of the sheet becomes visible. This is usually inconspicuous, but with a completely dark design, such as black, the unprinted/white inner bar becomes noticeable. While it is possible to print the inner gutter, it requires flipping the sheet, which may not be convenient for the often small section. However, opting for a Digisleeve or booklet sleeve allows the inside pocket to be printed for the same price. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Hot foil stamping
Hot foil stamping on a CD packaging is like the sparkle in someone's eyes when they see something really beautiful.
The embossing gives the packaging a shiny, metallic look and simply makes it look cooler. This makes the CD much more interesting and immediately makes you want to unpack it and listen to it.
Recycling cardboard or inside-out?
If being environmentally friendly is important to you, recycled cardboard may be a better option. However, if you want an unusual texture, inside-out paper can be an interesting choice.
Recycling carton
Recycled cardboard, as the name suggests, is made from recycled paper.
It is an eco-friendly option as it helps reduce waste and conserve resources. Recycled cardboard often has a matt surface and is usually slightly thicker and more robust.
Inside Out
With Inside-Out material, you can print on the rough, uncoated side of the paper or cardboard instead of the smooth side to create a unique tactile effect.
This creates a special tactile sensation and a different surface perception, which triggers an aha effect when listening to your CD or DVD. To protect the packaging from moisture and abrasion, we refine inside-out packaging such as the Digifile or Digipack with matt dispersion varnish. This variant is suitable for high-contrast designs and economical full-surface prints. Choose inside-out printing to attract attention and be remembered with a special design.
Foil lamination
A foil lamination is a thin layer of plastic film that is applied to a paper surface to protect and finish it. With a CD digipack, the foil lamination is applied to the paper of the packaging to make it more durable and attractive.
Foil lamination gloss
Foil lamination, silk matt
350 grams of paper
350g paper is thicker and stronger than 300g paper, giving it greater strength and durability.
A higher paper thickness can also offer a better feel and give a higher quality impression.
Kraftpack
Compared to traditional cardboard, Kraftpack has a higher density and a rougher surface, giving it a rustic look. The material is available in different thicknesses and can be selected depending on the requirements of the design.
