PDF data must comply with the PDF/X-3:2002 standard. This includes, among other things: the following requirements:
- PDF version must be 1.3
- Transparencies are not allowed
- Comments and form fields are not allowed
- Encryption (e.g. password protection) is not permitted
- OPI comments are not allowed
- Transfer curves are not allowed
- An output intent must be specified
In addition to the conditions of the PDF/X-3:2002 standard:
- All fonts must be converted to paths
- Layers are not allowed

Note: Data created in an image editing program such as Photoshop may only be sent as a TIF or JPG file. The data must be reduced to the background layer. Alpha channels and clipping paths are not allowed. This also applies to Photoshop files that are placed in a layout program!
